“‘HE SHOULD BE FIRED’: Fox News Host Lawrence Jones Sparks Furious Backlash Over ONE Major Mistake – What’s the REAL STORY?”
By Monica Pop
Fox News Host and Reporter Lawrence Jones, a familiar face on the network since 2018, found himself at the center of a heated controversy after posting a photo alongside U.S. Border Protection agents while wearing a bulletproof vest. In his caption, Jones wrote, “Coming up on Fox News live from the border,” but what followed was an overwhelming wave of criticism.
Many took to social media to mock the post, with some even calling for his dismissal. Critics argued that wearing a bulletproof vest while on U.S. soil and posing as though in a war zone was both unprofessional and inappropriate.
Among the most notable responses was a comment from New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who sarcastically asked, “Does ‘live from the border’ mean Party City?” She further accused Fox News of “doing the most on a budget” to exaggerate the dangers of the border.

Lawrence Jones’ decision to wear a bulletproof vest sparked further backlash, with MSNBC correspondent Jacob Soboroff labeling it as “totally ridiculous.”
Soboroff, who has extensive experience reporting from the border, weighed in on the controversy, sharing his own perspective. “I have never once worn a bulletproof vest at the border, nor has [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] ever asked me to – even while on a chase with Border Patrol to apprehend migrants in the remote Arizona desert in the middle of the night,” he explained, pointing out that Jones’ choice appeared to be an unnecessary exaggeration.

“Because. The. Border. Is. Not. A. War. Zone.”
The backlash against Lawrence Jones continued to mount after his controversial post. In his defense, Jones tried to explain that it was the Border Protection agents who advised him to wear the bulletproof vest for safety. However, this explanation did little to quell the growing wave of mockery and criticism.
Writer Jessica Luther humorously questioned the size of the vest, tweeting, “What is this? A vest for ants?” Meanwhile, NBC News producer and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Mac William Bishop, who has criticized journalists in the past for overplaying their protective gear, weighed in on the issue. “I’ve previously criticized journos for playing dress-up in PPE. Last time it was someone who worked for MSNBC. This time it’s someone who works for Fox. Being a poseur with no respect for journalistic integrity and lacking common sense about how PPE works is a non-partisan flaw,” Bishop pointed out, calling out the unprofessionalism on both sides of the political spectrum.
In addition to the mockery surrounding his attire, Jones faced broader criticism for contributing to Fox News’ narrative of unrest and danger at the border.
Journalist Roland Martin also chimed in, tweeting, “Need a good laugh? Check this out. Lawrence thinks he’s going to a war zone. Is this going to boost your speaking fees, Lawrence? Game recognizes game. #AllAboutTheBenjamins.” Jones responded, “Border patrol made me wear it,” but Martin wasn’t convinced, replying, “Easy: You. Who would I trust regarding border issues: you or Republican @HurdOnTheHill, a former CIA operative whose district is affected? You’re just there for show. But go ahead and play TV. Carry on, Lawrence.”
The controversy surrounding Jones only grew as the public, both supportive and critical, continued to react to his now-infamous photos.
