For The Love Of Dogs Fans Make Urgent Call for ‘New Paul O’Grady’ Pete Wicks to Take Over from Alison Hammond as Host

After the overwhelming success of Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake, a staggering 87% of ED! readers have voiced their desire for the former TOWIE star to replace Alison Hammond as the host of For The Love Of Dogs.

Earlier this year, Pete’s heartfelt series debuted on the satellite channel U, and it quickly captivated dog lovers everywhere. Viewers couldn’t help but draw comparisons between Pete and the late Paul O’Grady, not only in appearance but also in the deep compassion Pete demonstrated for the animals on the show. Now, fans are rallying behind Pete, a Dogs’ Trust ambassador, to take the reins as the new host of ITV’s For The Love Of Dogs.

Pete Wicks Eyed to Replace Alison Hammond as Host of For The Love Of Dogs

Following the heartbreaking death of beloved host Paul O’Grady, Alison Hammond was announced as the new face of For The Love Of Dogs. However, many viewers confessed that they didn’t immediately warm to her as Paul’s replacement—a tough act to follow, as Alison herself has acknowledged.

Ahead of the second series of For The Love Of Dogs with Alison at the helm, ED! took the pulse of readers to see if they’d prefer to keep Alison as the host or bring in Pete Wicks, the star of For Dogs’ Sake. The results were clear: Pete is the fans’ favorite to take over.

A Resounding Response

In a poll that garnered almost 1,500 responses, a staggering 87% of participants expressed their desire for Pete to host the ITV show. Many shared that Pete’s genuine care and compassion for animals reminded them so much of Paul O’Grady, with one reader commenting, “He showed such care and compassion, and reminded me so much of Paul.”

On the other hand, 13% of respondents voiced their support for Alison to remain in the role, praising her for showcasing a softer, more gentle side rarely seen on screen.

It’s safe to say, the majority of fans are hoping to see Pete Wicks take the reins of this heartwarming series.

‘Big Risk’ – Alison Hammond Takes the Reins on For The Love of Dogs

The new series of For The Love of Dogs kicked off on ITV1 on April 1, with Alison Hammond at the helm.

Last summer, a source revealed to The Sun why Alison was chosen to take over the role: “It was a big risk continuing the show without Paul, who obviously cannot be replaced, but Alison’s warmth and infectious personality really stood out. It was a no-brainer to commission the series for another run, and Alison is thrilled to be returning to Battersea.”

Despite some mixed reactions, Alison certainly has her loyal fans. “We shall be watching,” one fan commented on her Instagram. Another admitted, “I didn’t think Alison would work for this, but she sure does. Well done for keeping the show alive.”
