On His 100th Day in Office, Trump Defends Record and Shrugs Off Critics
As he marked his 100th day in office on April 29, President Donald Trump stood firm in defense of his administration’s performance, pushing back against criticism—including from some who once supported him.
In a sit-down interview with ABC News’ Terry Moran, Trump was asked about growing concerns surrounding his economic policies, particularly tariffs that analysts warn could cost American families thousands. His response was blunt: “Well, they did sign up for it, actually.”
Trump pointed to the economy as the centerpiece of his campaign, citing lower gas and egg prices as evidence that his strategy is paying off.
Still, public sentiment suggests otherwise. According to an ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll, Trump holds the lowest 100-day approval rating of any president in the past eight decades, with 55% disapproving of his performance. Meanwhile, a New York Times survey found that 66% of Americans describe his presidency so far as “chaotic.”
