Donald Trump Slams the US as a “Stupid Country” Amid Controversial Legal Battle

Donald Trump Challenges Birthright Citizenship, Slams U.S. as a “Stupid Country” in Controversial Remarks

Donald Trump has never been shy about expressing his views on birthright citizenship, and his latest statement is no exception, making waves across the nation. Here’s what you need to know.

Since taking office on January 20, Trump has implemented a series of controversial changes, focusing heavily on U.S. trade agreements, tackling drug crimes, addressing illegal immigration, and implementing tough deportation policies. Under his administration, many migrants have been forcibly removed from the U.S., with some sent to El Salvador’s notorious mega-jail. This has been done under a wartime law that bypasses legal proceedings, offering migrants a ‘free flight’ and an ‘exit bonus’ to encourage their departure.

Now, Trump and his administration are turning their attention to birthright citizenship, as enshrined in the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The amendment states that anyone born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to its jurisdiction, is a citizen. Trump has been pushing to revoke this provision for children born in the U.S. to non-permanent residents, including those here illegally or on temporary visas such as tourists, students, or workers.

Recently, three federal judges in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Washington blocked the administration’s executive order aimed at ending birthright citizenship. In response, Trump took to his Truth Social platform, urging the Supreme Court to reconsider the decision.

He argued that birthright citizenship was originally enacted after the Civil War to protect the children of slaves, and that it is no longer necessary today. Trump wrote, “Birthright Citizenship was not meant for people taking vacations to become permanent citizens of the United States of America, and bringing their families with them, all the time laughing at the ‘SUCKERS’ that we are!”

He continued by claiming that the U.S. is the “only country in the world” with such a policy, calling it a misguided and outdated practice that drug cartels exploit. “We are, for the sake of being politically correct, a STUPID country,” he said. “But, in actuality, this is the exact opposite of being politically correct, and it is yet another point that leads to the dysfunction of America.”

Trump also pointed out the historical context of the 14th Amendment, emphasizing that it was a measure taken after the Civil War to protect the children of enslaved people, not to allow illegal immigration. “It had nothing to do with illegal immigration for people wanting to scam our country,” he argued. “It had to do with Civil War results, and the babies of slaves who our politicians felt, correctly, needed protection.”

As the Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments on whether Trump can end birthright citizenship, his statement has sparked intense debate. Will the Court take his side on this contentious issue? Only time will tell.
