Two Confirmed Dead After Mid-Air Collision Near Marana Regional Airport

Tragedy struck near Marana Regional Airport, Arizona, around 8:30 a.m. when a mid-air collision occurred between a Cessna 172S and a Lancair 360 MK II. The impact caused one plane to burst into flames close to the runway, while the other managed to land safely.

Fortunately, both occupants of the safely landed aircraft escaped unharmed.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has confirmed the deaths of two individuals involved in the crash and has launched a full investigation. In response, Marana Regional Airport—which currently operates without an air traffic control tower—has been temporarily closed.

Officials have extended their deepest condolences to the families affected and expressed gratitude to the first responders who arrived promptly at the scene.
