What We Know So Far:
Catastrophic Flash Flooding: On Friday, a devastating wave of flash floods hit central Texas, as the Guadalupe River near Kerrville surged to a shocking 20-26 feet. The flooding, which arrived with little warning, left widespread destruction in its wake, causing massive road washouts and severely damaging local infrastructure.
Death Toll Climbs: Tragically, at least 79 people have lost their lives across six counties. In Kerr County alone, 68 victims have been confirmed dead — including 40 adults and 28 children. Heartbreakingly, 11 children from Camp Mystic are still missing, sparking an ongoing search and rescue operation.
Ongoing Flood Watch: The National Weather Service has issued an extended flood watch across much of south-central Texas. More heavy rainfall is expected today, threatening further damage and complicating recovery efforts.
Federal Aid Declared: In response to the devastation, President Donald Trump has signed a major disaster declaration for Kerr County. This declaration will unlock crucial resources to support first responders as they continue their urgent search and recovery efforts in the wake of the disaster.
