After months of silence, Kamala Harris has finally spoken out—and many believe she voiced what so many of us have been feeling.
The Vice President, who faced off against Donald Trump in the presidential election, shared her concerns about the growing sense of fear spreading across the United States under the current administration’s renewed leadership.
During her speech at the Leading Women Defined Summit in California on April 3, Kamala Harris subtly addressed the controversial tariffs imposed by Trump on nations around the world, as well as his numerous actions and executive orders—many of which have sparked legal contradictions. Her remarks reflected the turbulent situation created by his leadership.
She emphasized the importance of courage, stating, “When one person, when a few, stand with courage, that is the courage exhibited by the leaders in this room every day.”
Kamala Harris continued, urging the need for courage in the face of adversity: “To have the courage to say, ‘I feel fear,’ the courage to say, ‘What is happening is wrong,’ the courage to say, ‘There is a way we must chart to get through this.’”
She highlighted the importance of recognizing the power within the democracy we still have, as long as we hold on to it. “Courage is contagious,” she added.
Harris went on to reflect on the troubling events unfolding in recent months, stating, “These are the things we’re witnessing day after day. And yes, it creates fear. Because many of the things we’re seeing… we knew were coming. I’m not here to say, ‘I told you so.’”

Kamala Harris also pointed out that both individuals and organizations have remained silent, observing a troubling trend of “capitulating to clearly unconstitutional threats.”
Her concerns were echoed by Representative Jamie Raskin during an interview with Jen Psaki on MSNBC. Like Harris, Raskin argued that Democrats have been unfairly criticized for not speaking out enough.
“People kept asking, ‘Where’s the Democratic leadership?’” Raskin said. “But the reality is, it takes time to absorb the full impact of what’s happening. We’re dealing with an all-out attempt at authoritarian control, the purging of federal workers—attacks on every front.”
Raskin emphasized that the Democrats are standing firm in the face of these challenges, adding, “Now, everyone is in a fighting mood.”
