“Trump Demands Swift Action: Orders One Million Migrants to Be Deported ‘Immediately'”

“The Trump administration has issued a stark ultimatum to migrants who used a Biden-era asylum app: leave the U.S. immediately or face serious consequences.”

Trump Orders Nearly One Million Migrants to Leave U.S. ‘Immediately’ After Overhaul of Asylum App

Former President Donald Trump has ordered close to one million migrants to leave the United States “immediately” or “face the consequences,” targeting those who used a Biden-era mobile app to seek asylum.

The app, known as CBP One, was launched under President Joe Biden to help migrants book appointments for asylum processing. However, President Trump has criticized the platform, claiming it enabled illegal stays in the country.

In January, the Trump administration shut down CBP One. It was later reintroduced under a new name—CBP Home—with a drastically different mission: encouraging undocumented migrants to voluntarily deport themselves.

According to a message obtained by the BBC, one migrant received an email via the new app stating: “It is time for you to leave the United States.” The message warned: “If you do not depart the United States immediately, you will be subject to potential law enforcement actions that result in your removal—unless you have otherwise obtained a lawful basis to remain here.”

“You will be subject to potential criminal prosecution, civil fines, and penalties—as well as any other lawful measures available to the federal government,” the message warned.

While it remains unclear exactly how many migrants received the notice, immigration officials confirmed that it had been sent to “some” of the nearly one million individuals who used the app.

Around 900,000 migrants used the CBP One app to enter the U.S. through the southern border, with the majority granted permission to stay for two years and legally work during that time.

Initially launched in 2020 to assist trucking companies with cargo inspection scheduling, the CBP One app underwent a major shift in 2023—expanding to allow migrants to submit asylum claims.

The move drew fierce criticism from Republicans, who argued that the app effectively opened the door to illegal immigration by enabling migrants to enter the U.S. before their asylum applications were thoroughly vetted.

However, officials have defended the app, stating it has eased pressure on border facilities and provided safer, more organized pathways for asylum seekers traveling to the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security criticized the Biden administration, stating: “The Biden Administration abused parole authority, allowing millions of illegal immigrants into the U.S., which has only exacerbated the worst border crisis in U.S. history.”

The statement continued: “Cancelling these paroles is a promise kept to the American people, ensuring stronger borders and safeguarding national security. If they do not leave, they will face serious consequences—including a fine of $998 per day for every day an individual overstays their final deportation order.”

However, the department clarified that this immediate deportation order does not apply to certain Ukrainian and Afghan migrants enrolled in parole programs.
