Jamie Lissow’s ‘Gutfeld!’ Moment: From Comedy Clubs to TV Stardom
Jamie Lissow’s career took an unexpected and thrilling turn, and one night at a Chicago-area Zanies comedy club made him fully realize the incredible impact Gutfeld! was having on his rise to fame.
Lissow recounts the experience with awe: “Every single seat was filled, and when I walked in, everyone turned, looked at me, and started yelling ‘Jamie’ and clapping. I thought, ‘What is happening? I’m just me.’ It’s one of my best memories, walking into a club and having the entire crowd there to see me.” The moment marked a turning point, reminding him of how far he had come, thanks to his rising visibility on the popular late-night show.
Born and raised in Rochester, N.Y., comedy was always Lissow’s dream. As a child, while other boys were pretending to be pirates or ninjas for Halloween, Lissow would be putting on his best stand-up routine. His journey into comedy began at the Funny Bone club in Rochester, where he’d often be the last-minute substitute for comedians who couldn’t make their shows. Those early experiences led him to develop his signature style: sharp, observational humor with an apolitical edge.
Though Lissow never consciously aligned with one side of the political spectrum, it wasn’t until he crossed paths with Greg Gutfeld, back during Gutfeld’s Red Eye days on Fox News, that he found himself drawn into the conservative comedic fold. That encounter set the stage for the rise that would eventually lead Lissow to his current role on Gutfeld! and a place in the spotlight that has stunned even him.

Jamie Lissow’s Evolution: From Comedy Clubs to Political Commentary on Gutfeld!
Jamie Lissow’s rise to prominence took an amusing and surprising turn the night he realized just how much Gutfeld! was changing his career. After performing at a comedy club in Chicago, patrons kept walking up to Lissow and congratulating him on a great show—except they were mistaking him for Greg Gutfeld, due to how strikingly similar they looked that night.
Gutfeld, ever the good sport, invited Lissow to join him as a guest panelist on Red Eye. To Lissow’s surprise, he found himself fitting in with the show’s political tone far more naturally than he had expected.
Lissow explains his political evolution: “I didn’t follow politics at all until I met Greg Gutfeld. As the world got crazier, my conservatism developed over time. And as time passed, I realized, ‘I’m on Team Logic.’ I feel that the liberals are so illogical and hypocritical that this is the only side I’m comfortable on now.”
He goes on to explain how certain topics—like the fairness of a man competing against women in mixed martial arts, or questioning the consequences of not getting vaccinated—have become divisive but solidified his political stance. “If you just touch on, ‘I don’t want a guy to say he’s a woman and then beat up a woman in mixed martial arts,’ or if you say, ‘I think people should have a little more choice and not lose their jobs if they don’t want to get vaccinated,’ then it’s over and you’re in a box all of a sudden. It’s polarizing for sure.”
Now, Lissow brings his unique brand of political humor to the stage, reserving the last part of his stand-up set for biting social commentary. While some audience members might get upset by the more polarizing material, Lissow is unapologetic. “If you try to please everybody, you don’t please anybody,” he says, staying true to his convictions and his comedic style.
