🚨 Elon Musk Revives a Classic Reform Message—with a DOGE Twist
Elon Musk is turning heads again—this time by digging into the archives to highlight a shared goal with an unlikely political figure: former President Barack Obama.
In a recent post on X, Musk shared a resurfaced video from 2011 in which Obama introduces the “Campaign to Cut Waste,” a federal initiative aimed at slashing unnecessary spending and streamlining government operations. Musk’s caption? A succinct nod to his own initiative: “Sounds exactly like DOGE.”
DOGE—short for the Department of Government Efficiency—is Musk’s bold new proposal to target bloated budgets and eliminate inefficiencies across federal agencies. By aligning his mission with Obama’s past efforts, Musk is signaling that the fight against wasteful spending transcends party lines.
In the throwback video, Obama pokes fun at some of the more absurd examples of government waste—like federal funding for a website promoting a folk music band of forest rangers known as the “Fiddlin’ Foresters.” “I’ll put their music on my iPod,” he joked, “but I’m not paying for their website.”
Other examples included thousands of outdated government websites and an empty warehouse in Brooklyn that had been sitting idle for years due to red tape and bureaucratic inefficiencies.
Obama’s core message—that the government, like American families, needs to live within its means—resonates with Musk’s renewed push. While DOGE is still in its early stages, Musk’s move to spotlight this historical echo has reignited public debate around spending accountability and the potential for tech-driven solutions in modern governance.
One thing’s clear: whether it’s Obama in 2011 or Musk in 2025, the call for smarter government spending isn’t going away anytime soon.
