Texas Man Sentenced to 18 Months for Assaulting Border Patrol Agent During Smuggling Attempt

A 26-year-old man from Katy, Texas, has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison after assaulting a U.S. Border Patrol agent during a failed human smuggling attempt.

According to court records, Kevin Dominguez approached a Border Patrol checkpoint on U.S. Highway 57 on August 1, 2023. As his vehicle neared the checkpoint, a trained Border Patrol canine alerted agents to movement in the trunk. Upon inspection, agents discovered an individual concealed inside.

Rather than complying, Dominguez abruptly reversed his sedan, striking an agent with the vehicle before speeding away from the scene. He was later apprehended and convicted.
