Rapper Dank Demoss Sues Lyft After Driver Allegedly Refuses Ride Over Her Size
Plus-sized rapper Dajua Blanding, better known by her stage name Dank Demoss, has filed a lawsuit against Lyft, claiming a driver refused her service because she was “too big to fit in the back seat.”
According to Blanding, she had ordered a Lyft to attend a watch party when the driver turned her away, citing “very tired tires” and limited space as reasons for the denial. She believes the real issue was her size and is now pursuing legal action, arguing the incident amounts to weight-based discrimination—something she contends is just as serious as racial or religious bias.
The lawsuit, filed by her legal team, seeks damages for emotional distress, sparking a broader conversation online. While some social media users defended the driver, pointing to potential safety concerns, others called it blatant discrimination. Several plus-sized riders weighed in, saying they’ve faced similar issues and often have to request larger vehicles like Lyft XL to avoid uncomfortable situations.
Lyft has since responded, reaffirming its commitment to respectful treatment for both riders and drivers and stating they do not tolerate any form of discrimination as the case moves forward.
