Hallmark Star Nathaniel “Nate” Pelletier, 53, Passes Away Unexpectedly
Nathaniel “Nate” Pelletier, a beloved actor and transport department team member on Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart, has tragically passed away at the age of 53. Pelletier passed away suddenly on April 11 while living alone at his home in Langley, British Columbia. His cause of death remains unknown at this time.
Known for his generosity and exceptional work ethic, Pelletier made a lasting impact on everyone he met. According to his obituary, he was always eager to help, often before anyone even asked, and his kind nature touched countless lives. A friendly and sociable man, he was known for his warm smile and firm handshake whenever meeting someone new.
Pelletier is survived by his mother, Yvonne Langevin; his father, Perry Phillips; stepbrothers Gordon and Brian Langevin; stepsister Teri Van-Ryssel; his godmother, Lee DeGoede; nephew Andrei; brothers Jeramie and Jason; and daughter Myhrsades Jones.
A familiar face on When Calls the Heart, Pelletier often portrayed a cab driver, and in his obituary, he described his When Calls the Heart cast and crew as his “work-family,” which he considered his “second greatest love.”
Erin Krakow, who stars as Elizabeth Thatcher on the show, has expressed her condolences, while Martin Cummins, who portrays Henry Gowen, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. Cummins reflected on his time working with Pelletier and remembered him fondly, saying, “I’ve spent more hours in silence or conversation with Gord and Nate than I ever have on tape. Life is ever-changing. The Valley won’t be the same without him. It was a privilege to call him a friend.”
The mourning extended beyond the cast, with When Calls the Heart production manager Mike Magnusson describing Pelletier as a “true unicorn.” He added, “Nate saw people and was always there with a kind word. We will never be able to fill the spirit he leaves behind. You were unique, Nate, and you will be greatly missed.”
Pelletier’s passing leaves a deep void within the When Calls the Heart family and the many lives he touched.
