Trump’s Caddy Makes Shocking Claim About His Golf Game: “I Saw Him Do It”
Rumors of Donald Trump’s questionable conduct on the golf course have swirled for years—but they reached a new level when one of his own caddies reportedly confirmed what many have long suspected: the former President cheats at golf.
Trump, 78, is a well-known golf enthusiast who owns 16 golf courses, 12 of them in the U.S. During his presidency, he reportedly spent 18 of his first 69 days of his second term playing golf—racking up over $26 million in taxpayer expenses despite the demands of leading the nation and launching controversial economic tariffs.
While Trump’s golfing skills have been praised by several PGA pros, his reputation on the fairway has been tainted by persistent accusations of cheating. Celebrities like Oscar De La Hoya and Samuel L. Jackson have publicly called him out for bending the rules. One of the most notorious examples came in 2023, when Trump claimed victory in a tournament he missed half of—because he was attending a funeral 600 miles away.
Veteran sportswriter Rick Reilly explored this pattern in his book Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump, detailing numerous stories from insiders who allege Trump will do anything to win. According to Reilly, “90% of the people I’ve talked to say he openly cheats—and doesn’t care who sees it.”
One particularly jaw-dropping incident centers on Trump’s own caddy, who allegedly confessed to witnessing the former president sabotaging another player’s shot.
The story involves a game where Trump was playing alongside football legends Ron Jaworski, Jon Gruden, and sportscaster Mike Tirico. Tirico had just nailed an incredible shot that landed within 10 feet of the hole. But when they reached the green, the ball had somehow ended up buried in a bunker 50 feet away.
Trump called it a “lousy break,” but Tirico later recalled what the caddy whispered to him:
“You know that shot you hit on the par 5? It was about ten feet from the hole. Trump threw it in the bunker. I saw him do it.”
Despite the apparent sabotage, Tirico said nothing and paid up like a gentleman.
The story adds another chapter to the growing lore of Trump’s controversial conduct on the course—a man determined to win, no matter the cost.
