Trump Under Fire for “Unhinged” Threats Against Iran’s Supreme Leader

Donald Trump is facing a storm of backlash following a series of inflammatory posts on Truth Social, where he issued veiled threats toward Iran’s leadership amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Since June 13, Israel has launched strikes on Tehran, initially without direct involvement from the United States. Iran has responded with retaliatory missile attacks, some reportedly breaching Israel’s Iron Dome defense system and striking near Tel Aviv.

As the crisis deepens, Trump has taken to his social media platform to pressure Iran into returning to the negotiating table on a new nuclear agreement with the P5+1 powers—the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, China, and Russia—who have been engaged in nuclear talks with Iran for nearly two decades.

But Trump’s latest posts have ignited fierce criticism.

In a Truth Social post on Tuesday night (June 17), the former president boasted, “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff.’ Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”

He then turned his attention to Iran’s leadership in a message that many are calling dangerously provocative:
“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there. We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The posts have been condemned across political lines, with critics labeling them “reckless,” “deranged,” and “a clear escalation” at a time when diplomacy is urgently needed.

“Unconditional Surrender”: Trump’s Latest Post Fuels Outrage and War Fears

In a third and most ominous post, Donald Trump added just two chilling words: “Unconditional surrender.”

The stark declaration sent shockwaves through social media, where users from across the political spectrum accused the former president of warmongering and using the escalating conflict for political gain.

One disillusioned voter wrote: “Why don’t you bring our military home and fix America like you promised? So disappointed I voted for you.”

Another user didn’t hold back: “You guys are f**ing clowns. Stop the war-mongering BS!”*

The backlash wasn’t limited to angry voters. Commentators and political analysts condemned the rhetoric as both irresponsible and dangerous. “The President is impairing the dignity of his presidency as well as the national honor by this kind of rhetoric,” one critic observed.

Others questioned Trump’s mental fitness and motives. “Our so-called President is out of his mind,” wrote one user. “We voted for peace. We got a warlord. Thanks, Trump,” said another.

As violence in the region intensifies, Trump’s strategy—marked by bravado, threats, and cryptic ultimatums—is drawing increasing alarm from world leaders. Many fear his words could inflame an already volatile situation and derail fragile diplomatic efforts.

What began as a call for renewed nuclear talks now teeters on the edge of something far more dangerous—with Trump’s own messaging pouring fuel on the fire.
